Bistro Brunch

You will see tons of different bistro sets at the Maxx but the lines on this iconic Paris Bistro Tables are timeless and all other imitations pale in comparison.  This simple straight forward bistro tab is your best look for beauty and endless functionality. We should know. We have had this one for over 15 years! And in those 15 years, we have used it in various parts of our house from patio seating to a bedroom nightstand. It has really been a great purchase.

DSC_0222

If you buy one and choose to use it for its truest nature, HomeGoods, as always, has ample serving ware options. We, of course, gravitated to the Blue and White!

DSC_0191

We also the Black and White of these outdoor chairs because honestly, these could not be resisted. Each was only $59.99, are so sturdy, timeless and easy to clean. To tie them into the rest of the design we placed a Tommy Bahamas Patio Pillow [$14.99, Set of 2] on each chair and called it good. The mixture of those two patterns is just so fun!

DSC_0175

For each brunch setting, we used our Blue Rimmed Salad Plates by Martha Stewart [$14.99, Set of 2] – same ones used on our She’s A Grand Old Table post – layered with a Striped Mini Plate by Lenox [$4.99 each].

DSC_0194

The paisley napkins underneath all those beautiful plate layers are actually folded Nicole Miller Placemats [$14.99, Set of 4] and the yellow mugs are from years ago, don’t have a brand mark, but we’re guessing cost us around $2.99 each. We love that pop of yellow against all the blue and even more so love the Postum in the mug. If you don’t know what Postum is, you are missing out. So here’s a link 🙂

DSC_0202

And here’s a bird’s eye view of it all!

DSC_0160

For the center, we layered yet again, with a round brass platter (not HomeGoods), and this fun Farmstyle Round Handled Tray [$12.99]. That tray could be used in so many settings! Maybe even as a bathroom makeup and toiletries tray. The brass platter and tray are an unlikely pairing but somehow they just work.

The stack of Blue and White Bowls came in a set of 4 for only $7.99. They’re both decorational and can be used as a great dessert, cereal, or even soup bowls. And the Faux Succulent, which we have used in many designs and brings such a great pop of freshness, is mixed with reindeer moss. Spoiler: These aren’t available at HomeGoods but will soon be available, along with many other faux succulent and flower designs from Evergreen Ave – stay tuned!

DSC_0188

We added the babushka dolls for some color. A little random but we like what they add to the table. FYI, these were actually a gift from a dear family member who traveled to Russia many times. They were in one our bedrooms as a little knickknack so let that be a MaxxAddict Tip: Scour your house for little items if your design doesn’t feel quite complete. You will be amazed by what you already have that could add interest!

dsc_0184-998875448-1501182639405.jpg

With limited space on the table, we decided to use the Rectangular Brass and Silver Tray [$5.99] for the bread. Croissants might have been a better baked goods choice but we didn’t have any of those on hand 🙂

DSC_0192

Let’s not forget these Blue and White Dotted Hand-Blown Glasses [$3.99 each] which are as fun to drink out of as you think. Especially with fresh-squeezed orange juice!

DSC_0179

And that’s just ONE way you could use a Bistro set. Would love to see your uses as well! Tag #maxxaddict for a chance to be featured.

She’s A Grand Old Table

Happy 4th of July! We are so blessed to live in the land of the free and, with that, be able to shop at the land of the budget conscious, aka HomeGoods :). 4th of July is a favorite of ours. It’s all about family, love, gratitude and of course red, white, and blue. We hope you enjoy this Grand Old Table and would love to see your beautiful creations too!

DSC_0418

Since numbers are small at this year’s family brunch, we decided to place everything on this backyard iron patio table (we have had for 30+ years) surrounded by the beautiful greens of summer

DSC_0384

As always we did a little mixx and maxxing with both the placemats and tables. Not being able to find more than one set of something at TJ Maxx or HomeGoods always tends to work in our design favors as the different looks add more dimension than having everything same same. Just like in America, where without our diversity, we would lack so much of the greatness our country is!

DSC_0028

On one the alternating settings, we placed these Blue Rimmed Salad Plates by Martha Stewart, Set of 4 [$14.99] (also used on our Cinco De Maxxo post) on top of these fun Red Rimmed Plates by Dansk [$4.99 each].

DSC_0394

Each setting has a Blue and White Woven Placemat by Knits and Knots [$12.99 Set of 4]. We love how well these emulate the stars on our beautiful American flag.

DSC_0129

On the alternate place setting, we used Red Roay Doulton Salad Plates by Gordon Ramsey [$2.99 each] on top of Ikat Design Dinner Plates by Tommy Bahamas [$4.99 each] and then to add dimension placed a lighter Blue Woven Vinyl Placemats [$9.99, Set of 6] on top of the Knits and Knots placemat.

DSC_0403

Each setting has a white cloth napkin and alternating Silver and Gold Hammered Flatware by St. James [$54.99, Set of 24]. We have used this flatware in several of our designs so it was well worth the investment! Check out Cinco De Maxxo and Brunch Bunnies to see how else we have used it.

DSC_0148

Every setting has a Red Rimmed Blown Glass Tumblers, Made In Mexico – we love Mexico too:) – [$3.99 each].

DSC_0380

Additionally, each setting has a different blue and white, blue or just plain red pillow. TJ Maxx and HomeGoods always such a variety of indoor/outdoor pillows. These are all meant for indoors but there’s no rules against bringing them outside for a nice brunch or dinner table. Just be sure to take them inside when you are finished. Every one of these pillows was in the $24.99-$29.99 range. Worth it if you use them in other areas of your home, like our America The Bedroom post :).

DSC_0325

DSC_0419

For our Grand Old centerpiece, we added height and volume by placing a Pewter Compote [$29.99] in a this beautiful large Red Wave Rimmed Bowl, Made In Portugal [$24.99].

DSC_0399

We filled the compote with oasis, faux Magnolia leaves and live reindeer moss.

DSC_0368

Then, of course, two American flags, coming out of each side.

DSC_0397

Surrounding the centerpiece, we placed two Red and Blue Striped Baja Water Pitchers by Amici [$12.99 each] and fresh berries and greens.

DSC_0076

DSC_0404

DSC_0395

Berries, fruits, vegetables, etc. are great, inexpensive and tasty ways to bring in needed colors to your table designs. We placed blueberries, strawberries and raspberries in separate Clear Accent Bowls by Artistic Accents [$7.99, 4-Pack] and placed the bowls throughout the table.

DSC_0029

For the greens, we placed fresh boxwood in these Metallic Gold and Red Votives (from Restoration Hardware – forgive us!) and these fun Blue Polkadot Glasses, Made In Mexico [$3.99 each

DSC_0392

Thanks so much for stopping by and seeing our #maxxaddict design. Wishing you a happy 4th!

America The Bedroom

Happy July! Lucky for us, we’ve been gushing over blue and white for a while now, so for our July-inspired designs, all we needed to add was a splash of red. We hope you enjoy this patriotic design.

DSC_0384

We couldn’t resist this Navy Velvet Bench {$129.00]. We are glad that we didn’t because it fits perfectly at the end this iron bedframe.

DSC_0385

We added this non-traditional Blue and White Aztec Design Pillow [$19.99] on top to give the bench a little more dimension.

DSC_0387

The nailhead and wooden frame are great features of the bench.

DSC_0389

The biggest splash of red comes from this Red Quilt, which we’ve laid over a white fleece blanket. The Red Quilt [$49.99] was bought a couple years ago at HomeGoods and has been used in many designs since. The details and comfort of it are hard to beat.

DSC_0447

The nightstands are these beautiful wooden ones, inherited from my wonderful mother-in-law. They go so well with any design and look great with this Blue Glass Lamp by Nicole Miller Home [$79.00].

DSC_0438

The lamp is surrounded by a collection of knickknacks because who doesn’t love knickknacks? HomeGoods sure does. There are always ample knickknacks, across all departments, whenever we are there. The Iron Bird [$9.99] was also purchased a bit back at HomeGoods but we’ve seen similar since. They are so versatile within many designs. Since Pineapples are everywhere right now, we decided to throw one in. This specific one was purchased from Decor To Door (great company – check them out). All mixed with that beautiful #blueandwhite Oriental Urn, Made In China [$24.00] and some faux greens of our own in a small bowl.

DSC_0442 (1)

On the second nightstand, we placed a glass and brass lamp (not from HomeGoods) and some, even more, fun knickknacks.

DSC_0397

This White Diamond Patterned Candle by Chesapeake [$9.99] smells SO good and actually looks very similar to the white pineapple on the opposite side.

DSC_0405

We then stacked these fun designed Small Salad Plate [$2.99] and Large Dinner Plate [$4.99], by Spectrum (MaxxAddict Tip: always look in other departments!) underneath this darling Mango Wood Container [$3.99] (and found in the bathroom department!) with this cute Chubby Iron Bird.

DSC_0404

Behind this layered look, we have Hand Blown Goosenecked Glass Vase with Blue Rim [$6.00] filled with fresh Laurel leaves from our yard. This is the same vase we used on the Feeling The Blues post back a bit. Incredible how well it transfers into a totally different design.

DSC_0399

Directly below, we placed this [Gold and Cream Speckled Genuine Leather File Organizer by Max Studio $34.99], that we use for nighttime books, lotions, etc. This is a great alternative to having piles on top of your nightstand. Everything is still reachable but not cluttering the design.

DSC_0392

We are those kinds of people who let their dog sleep in bed with them hence the purchase of this Gray Slate Step Stool with Teak Frame by Max Studio [$39.99]. If you are not that kind of person, this step stool is beautiful, modern and durable and would work perfectly in kid’s bathroom or kitchen pantry.

DSC_0475

And as a cherry tops a sundae, so do these fun patterned Blue, White, and Red Pillows. They all varied in price from $19.99 to $29.99. We prefer mixxing and maxxing but also appreciate the look of same same. Would love to see what July designs you concoct from finds at #TJMaxx and #Homegoods!

Bowls Goals.

Just when we thought we have seen everything, we are blown away once again by this original design concept brought to you by the TJ Maxx and HomeGoods. How fun are these!? Made In India, Mango Wood Melamine Floral Bowls. We can see a summer full of using these and using these well.

DSC_0399

This laminated floral print pressed into this set of wooden bowls are fresh and colorful and give a whole new dimension to whatever you are serving.

DSC_0387

DSC_0382

Plus they are all sold separately so no need to buy sizes you will not use. Small [$4.99], Medium [$12.99] and Large [$16.99].

DSC_0374

Perfect bowls for delicious side salads, fruits and even desserts.

DSC_0371

Just as beautiful as the floral designs is the polished mango wood.

DSC_0411

DSC_0413

Beautiful all around! We can basically taste Summer just looking at these! If you see these at your local TJ Maxx or HomeGoods, we would love to see the design you chose!

Back To Black.

We’ve found and shown a lot of great Blue and White finds from TJ Maxx and HomeGoods. We now feel it our duty to give a little love to the most classic color combination of them all, Black and White.

DSC_0792

Understandably, a black shirt (or black clothing  of any sort) does not seem like the best go-to for summer fashion but this lightweight cotton Pepin Black and White Embroidered Top [$29.99, Originally $58] might get you looking.

DSC_0741DSC_0726

Plus it’s not ALL black. The white embroidered designs add the perfect bohemian look to a classic color. We love the tassels too!

DSC_0724

Even better perk of this top is that it holds enough design to be paired with dark skinny jeans and a pair of sandal flats.

DSC_0761

Or if you are more adventurous than some of us, you could top your outfit off with some wedges. These Brown Leather Wedges by VINCE were a favorite #TJMaxx find of our model, Savannah, and cost her less than 50% of the original price – $129.99 vs. $300.

DSC_0764

There is a reason she looks so happy in all the pictures. TJ Maxx does that to people. Would love to see what great #blackandwhite finds you score or even just great, breezy, summer tops! Tag @maxxaddicts on your social media posts and stay cool out there!

Forever Blue

If you have followed MaxxAddict at all, you already know how much we are feeling the blues this season. Happy to say that HomeGoods is feeling them too. This room already had this beautiful beaded dark blue headboard, all it needed was some other shades of blue to pull it all together.

DSC_0123

The selection of pillows at HomeGoods never disappoints. We had some velvet navy pillows already which we adorned with a collection of our other pillow finds. The Big White Lace Pillows by Piu Bell [$29.99 each, originally $40] on either sides of the velvet pillows served as a perfect stark backdrop to the blues.

DSC_0285

The first row of pillows all came from HomeGoods. Striped Blue and Cream Background Pillow by Ralph Lauren [$24.99] in the middle and the Waved Striped Pillow [$24.99] and Ikat Pillow Blue Cream & Royal [$24.00] to the sides.

DSC_0231

DSC_0254

We love the detail of this Ikat pillow! For all followers who aren’t familiar with the term Ikat, it’s a fabric made using an Indonesian decorative technique in which warp or weft threads, or both, are tie-dyed before weaving. One of the greatest shifts in design through the years has been the move from using just one style to decorate a home to combining styles and techniques from all over the world. Using this Ikat pillow is just one example of how to do that.

DSC_0149

For the nightstand (which is actually a bistro table) we found this Modern Blue Leaf Print [$59.99]. It serves as a great backdrop to the knickknacks and books on the table and also does a great job of pulling all the blues together.

DSC_0276

Knickknacks: 12-Point Mirrored Star [$12.99], Blue and White Urn [$12.99]. All mixed with that fun golden llama, which was already in the room and was not purchased at HomeGoods – although I have seen similar items there. Also added a faux succulent to add a touch of freshness to the room. The lamp is a Visual Comfort design, a brand that HomeGoods always carries!

DSC_0241

Pay no attention to the title of the yellow book 🙂

DSC_0239

We love how this Forever Blue look came together. Would love to see what great blue finds you come across at TJ Maxx and Home Goods!

Romper Love

TJ Maxx always has a great selection of summer coverups and rompers. This one, however, definitely stood out. It is made from beautiful cloth and the printed floral details really class it up and make it more resort wear than anything else.

DSC_0638

Two-Toned Blue and White Floral Romper by Blue Island

DSC_0685

dsc_0652.jpg

Definitely doesn’t look or wear like it’s $19.99! The original price of $30 is also not bad but we’d prefer the lesser price. Of course.

DSC_0666

Beautiful sleeves!

DSC_0663DSC_0648DSC_0639

Perfect coverup for any body of water and even nice enough to wear after a day of water parks, beach, laking, or boating!

Would love to see what great coverup you find at your local #TJMaxx!

Indoors To Outdoors

Memorial Day for my family means reflecting on the sacrifices of those who came before us – especially that of my late father-in-law who served as a general surgeon during WWII. We do this by visiting graves or spending time in an area of our yard we call “Grammy’s Grove”. It is in these places we often feel their presence.

Below are the many looks we created in Grammy’s Grove with some great indoor/outdoor decor from #tjmaxx and #homegoods! Hoping each of you are able to find a quiet place outdoors today to stand (or sit) in remembrance this Memorial Day Weekend.

DSC_0029

DSC_0028

With the patio furniture I already have, I add some pops of color with these red and cream pillows and some fun little knickknacks from HomeGoods.

DSC_0931

The cute dog (who needs a haircut!) was not purchased at TJ Maxx. However, she is no stranger to its aisles. Yes, I take my dog with me everywhere I can.

DSC_0939

I have used these iron birds in other posts – All In White – and if you’ve have read there you know how much we adore them. I bought these a couple years ago at HomeGoods and am always on the lookout for more. They are so versatile and work in any indoor or outdoor space!

DSC_0027

DSC_0015

I placed the short bird on top of this beautiful Mango Wood Lidded Container [$3.99] to give the table some variance and dimension.

DSC_0025

Additionally, this is the same vase from the Feeling The Blues post. I placed fresh trimmings from an Evergreen Laurel bush in this beautiful Hand Blown Glass Vase with Blue Rim  that I got for $6! – and this time layered it on top of a round brass tray and these White and Blue Dinner [$4.99] and Salad Plate [$6.99]. Just another example of why you shouldn’t limit your decor searching to one department!

DSC_0150

I placed Reindeer Moss and a faux plant within a small black container to pull all the greens together and placed this beautiful White Textured Ceramic Candle [$3.99].

DSC_0070

DSC_0987

All these knickknacks surrounded this classic Wicker Lamp by Ralph Lauren [$49.99]. My husband installed an outlet nearby so we could have light outside without lighting a fire. Creating an outdoor space with a touch of the indoors is one of my favorite designs.

dsc_0147.jpg

We also toyed around with some other beautiful knickknacks and even pillows because as you know, there is no shortage of either of these things at HomeGoods.

DSC_0988

These Geometric Print Pillows tie in well with the style of the blue and white plates. For nights when the mosquitos are out, I have this beautiful Teal Blue Citronella Candle [$6.99].

DSC_0975

I also really love the rich blueness of these two below pillows. One is Woven Blue and Cream Star Honeycomb Pillows [$24.99] that could be used both indoors and outdoors and the other is a Knitted Navy Blue Pillow [$29.99].

DSC_0971

DSC_0968

Lastly, I placed this darling Iron Cast Pig Planter [$19.99] at the base of one of the chairs and loaded it with high quality faux greens. I can’t get over how cute it turned out.

DSC_0151DSC_0938

Our other dog, Norington, even made friends with the pig.

DSC_0935

We love this outdoor space, especially on days like Memorial Day, and look forward to using this space and the beautiful colors and decor, for many years to come. We would love to see the outdoor spaces you create for this summer with HomeGoods decor. Be sure to tag #maxxaddict on any social media posts for a chance to be regrammed.

Safety to and thanks to you all and the service you provide for one another!

All In White

So much WHITE on WHITE this season and why not because it’s timeless. Here is to a fresh start! So if you need a bit of updating this is a very quick and inexpensive way to achieve it. We tried it out the WHITE on WHITE craze on a very traditional kitchen. As usual, HomeGoods made it really easy. Just when we walked through their doors there was a huge display of beautiful white plates, bowls, pitchers, cup and lidded containers. So many that it was virtually impossible to miss all those wonderful shapes, sizes, and textural designs.

All the items including the larger bowls and containers are new purchases. The plates are finds from years past.

DSC_0599

Fell in love with all the different shaped and textures. They each are so unique and bring interest to what otherwise could have a collection of boring matching dishes. Both Pitchers [$5.99 sml, $6.99 lg] shown here by Home Essentials – a Homegoods brand that really impresses.

DSC_0600These Dotted Relief Soup Bowls by Primogero [$5.99] also add a lot of interest and texture. The Small Cylinder Container with Wooden Lid, Made In Portugal [$7.99] was actually found in the bathroom department. It serves well as a sugar or salt container. I actually had never thought of searching the bath department for items like this before but it proved to be a valuable source so don’t pass it up when looking for lidded container or small scale open containers.

DSC_0598 (1)

This Textured Container, Made In Portugal [$7.99], next to the pitchers, was also found the bath department.

MaxxAddict Tip: Our latest discovery has been, don’t limit your search to items found only within the obvious departments. Items from the kitchen department can often easily be used to decorate a living room, bedrooms and baths spaces. Likewise, on items from the bath department can serve in kitchen bedrooms and even living spaces.

DSC_0565 (1)
If you’ve seen some of our other MaxxAddict designs you know how much we love using trays to layer items and make them become a focal point. This Wood Kitchen Tray [$19.99] proved to be a great compliment to all it is carrying.

DSC_0564
Upon the tray is placed a Porcelain Utensil Jar, Made In Portugal [7.99] with some faux succulent and reindeer moss in an iron container. The greens add to this natural updated look. The stack of contemporary square salad plates plus the wooden utensils are all brought together with the inlay white leaf design of the raw wooden tray.

DSC_0583
The Iron Bird was purchased at HomeGoods but not this trip. You know when there are things that just speak to you and say, “BUY ME”? This bird happens to be one of those things. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut, even if you are not quite sure where the decor will end up. For me, when I follow that instinct, it almost always seems to find the perfect place. I have used this bird it in multiple spaces and designs throughout the years and am now always on the lookout for more!

Would love to see what WHITE on WHITE finds you come across. And if you like any of the looks or design tips we would love for you to tag us – #maxxaddict.

Cinco De Maxxo

Mexico has been a long-time favorite vacation destination for me and my family. Every time we are able to go, we come back with sunburns, Chiclets, a few extra pounds and always some new home decor item. While I have some of my own imported decor, I love seeing what TJ Maxx and HomeGoods brings into their stores and was inspired this year by their selection. I did my best to put together as non-touristy look as possible and bring you a real authentic Cinco De Mayo table. I am so pleased with how it turned out and feel as if I am walking the streets of San Miguel Allende every time I look at these fun festive treasures. I hope you feel the same!

DSC_0013

We started the entire design first with these Silver Decorative Pigs [$5.99 each] and surrounded them with knickknacks from throughout our house. The star candles, fruit and center bowl are ones I purchased in Mexico a long time ago but I have definitely seen similar at TJ Maxx and HomeGoods.

DSC_0074

DSC_0026

I generally don’t love the quality of faux flowers but I found these Cala Lillies [$16.99] and Roses [$19.99] that look paperlike and so similar to what I have seen in Mexico. I really love the color and authenticity they added to this look!

DSC_0023

DSC_0039

For the place setting, I alternated Blue Rimmed Salad Plates by Martha Stewart [$14.99, Set of 4] with some Blue and White plates I have had for years and even used on my Easter table this year as well.

DSC_0041

DSC_0044

DSC_0048

The Green Seeded Glass Tumblers and Tall Clear Seeded Glass Drinking Glasses – both from HomeGoods but not recent purchases – look wonderful along with the Rag Cream Placemats with Jute Border by Timbuktu [$12.99, Set of 4] and the a maxx-up of my Gold Hammered Flatware by St. James [$59.99, Set of 24] and a new set I was able to find of Copper Hammered Flatware by Artisan Home [$24.99, Set of 16].

MaxxAddict Tip: Don’t feel like you need to buy all new stuff to put together a completely new look. Each season, only buy the best in quality items and things that you really love and use them time and time again. If you didn’t notice, I used the Gold Hammered Flatware, Cream Placemats, Green Seeded Tumblers in some of my Easter settings and the Blue and White Fluted Stoneware Bowl in my Feeling The Blues post.

DSC_0050

I carried the theme throughout each chair as well by alternating Blue and White Outdoor Pillows.

MaxxAddict Tip: Embrace the fact that sometimes TJ Maxx only has one of something when you need more by finding similar items and mixx and maxxing. In the end, you’ll be much happier with the overall look and will avoid creating something matchy-matchy or even similar to what others put together.

But also, before you go, SCROLL DOWN past one last shot of those roses, to see the cutest Cinco De Mayo outfit. Then run to buy it because I saw several of these dresses at my local store.

SEE! Isn’t this dress so cute and perfect for a Cinco De Mayo party? Or any party for that matter?

DSC_0591

It’s a Max Studio Mid Dress [$34.99, Originally $65] and I love how flattering it is on Mackenzie.

DSC_0580

The sleeves and neckline add so much flare and make it a very unique striped dress (especially when compared to all those other striped dresses popping up everywhere).

DSC_0585

DSC_0582

We paired it with this Made In Italy White Leather Purse [$120, Originally $250] that our other MaxxAddict model wore in the last post as well as the Brown Leather Sandals by Vince [$129.99, Originally $300].

DSC_0578

With a pop of red lipstick, this entire look fits perfectly into our Blue and White Cinco De Maxxo Setting and makes Mackenzie the perfect senorita.

I hope you all have a wonderful, festive and safe Cinco De Mayo!

Feeling The Blues

If you haven’t noticed, Blue and White is everywhere these days.  This makes me particularly happy since it has been a longtime design love of mine. What also makes this addict happy is that TJ Maxx and HomeGoods have stocked up on the Blue and White Season trend and their merchandise picks are not disappointing. At all.

Over the next little bit, I will be sharing how I have incorporated the Blue and White craze into my life and home. I hope you enjoy not only what I found but what you find too!

This post is dedicated to some of the Blue and White bowls and plates I found at my local HomeGoods store. At first, it seems a little chaotic when I put all these together but take a look for yourself – it works! I obviously wouldn’t have all of this on a table set for one but I would (and you could) mix and match the designs for a summer dinner centerpiece and individual settings as well. Details below!

DSC_0010

For the centerpiece, I placed fresh trimmings from an Evergreen Laurel bush in this beautiful Hand Blown Glass Vase with Blue Rim  that I got for $6! – in one of my own Blu&W bowls, I have had forever from a trip to Mexico. I then placed all that on top of this darling Dinner Plate with Rippled Blue Border by Spectrum Design [$3.99 each].

MaxxAddict Tip: Unique and beautiful plates or bowls also make unique and beautiful centerpieces. Don’t feel like you need to opt for a traditional centerpiece vase OR if you do, layer it with other unique items!

I used the same plate for the actual dinner plate along with these beautiful Navy Blue Bold Rimmed Salad Plates by Martha Stewart [$14.99, Set of 4]. I then used a simple white linen napkin underneath these great Blu&W Paisley and Floral Placemats by Nicole Miller Home [$12.99, Set of 4]. For the flatware, I found another set that I could keep and use forever, Copper Hammered Flatware by Artisan Home [$24.99, Set of 16].

Bold Flower Bowls [$3.99]

Again, I love how different in styles and designs these all are – some traditional American, some Oriental, some Mexican – and yet together they flow so well.

Dragonfly Bowl with Orange Rim [$4.99]

MaxxAddict Tip: Don’t worry about styles and designs as much as colors! You can create a lot of beautiful and unique spaces keeping this in mind. Fill a drawer or cabinent of these and let your guests, children, or grands pick their favorite one.

DSC_0028

For example, this Blu&W Dragon Plate [$7.99] is not my typical style and yet it looks so great with everything else and adds so much interest.

My mother-in-law, who we all affectionately call “Grammy”, used to always say, a touch of Oriental adds class. I am in love with these Oriental bowls. I see these in Chinatown everytime I visit my daughters in San Francisco. Price is much much better at TJ Maxx and HomeGoods though – especially when you factor in the cost of travel.

I found this Kitty Bowl [$3.99] which I the grands will love. Having a cat in your home without dealing with allergies and litter boxes is a win-win for everyone involved.

Lastly, this beautiful Blu&W Leaf Bowl [$7.99] really could be used for any occasion. A mixx and maxx of all these bowls/plates could even be beautiful for a wedding table and reception! I would love to see your TJ Maxx and HomeGoods Blu&W finds! Be sure to tag #maxxaddict and your pic just might get re-posted on the MaxxAddict page as well. Hope you feel the good kind of blues this season!

Brunch Bunnies

For a couple years now, with all my children grown up, I have worked to figure out how to best share my talents and bless the lives of others. I have come up with countless ideas (some good, some not so good) and have bought more GoDaddy domain names than I ever want to admit. It has definitely been a process of creation, failing, learning, and picking myself up and trying again. I believe this is something every mother, who has fully committed their lives to raising their children, will or has encountered. The point in a mother’s life when our projects are no longer, fully, our children and we have just a little more idle time to create something new. For me, designing homes and decorating them as been an integral part of raising my children. With this talent, I have been able to create a safe and beautiful haven for the most important people in my life while also doing the same for others. It only makes sense that I continue on this path but I wasn’t quite sure how.

My daughters have been involved all throughout these projects and have supported and encouraged me to take my talents and move forward. Very recently, on a trip to see my “grands”, one of my daughters mentioned the concept of MaxxAddict to me (though the name came later). While there are many (I have been told) design blogs out there, I never thought to start my own – it is a world I am not well accustomed to. This daughter, however, not only has a strong technical background, but she had also grown up scouring TJ Maxx with me. She knows well how much I appreciate the budget prices of TJ Maxx and HomeGoods and we both feel it is a resource more people on budgets should know about!

We went the very next day, to the closest TJ Maxx and HomeGoods, and got to working. What we found has inspired our very first MaxxAddict Tip as well as holiday-inspired post – we hope you enjoy!

MaxxAddict Tip: If you are preparing for a holiday, shop early! Holiday merchandise starts coming in months in advance. This year, I was blown away by the Easter selection. When it comes to uniqueness and variety, HomeGoods has even Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma, beat. It was impossible to select only one Easter look but eventually, I narrowed it down – at least a bit. You will see that with a number of items I purchased I was able to use them in a variety of settings. Absolutely loved putting these together and I hope they get you as excited as I am to celebrate this wonderful holiday! Hop on over to your nearest store and as always, happy hunting!

Brunch Bunnies Table

IMG_9348

For the centerpiece, I found so many fun things including these darling Standing Pewter Bunnies, Made In India [$16.99 each], the Petite Wooden Dipping Bowls [$7.99 for 2-pack] which I filled with my go-to green of reindeer moss, and the Colored Blown Glass Vases by Vitrocolon [$3.99 each] which I also filled with greens, but this time artificial ones. I placed all of these on a two-tiered dessert stand that I already had at my house.

img_9354-1.jpgimg_93481.jpgIMG_9343I also loved mixing the different metals, woods, and glass I found like these Petite Brass Bunnies [$3.99 each] with the Standing Pewter Bunnies [$16.99 each]. Think it gives a really great and unique vintage mixed with modern look and not one you would typically see on an Easter table.

IMG_9354 (1) (1)

Also, how great are these Moss Bunnies made by Cottontail? That’s a rhetorical question of course because they really are just that great. I was able to find a Large [$5.99] and Petite [$4.99] one and love how they pulled in the other greens I have placed on the table. MaxxAddict Tip: Repeating items and colors bring continuity and cohesive flows to looks. Just as the mix of these moss bunnies, artificial, and fresh greens do!

IMG_9341

For the place settings, I used a simple white table cloth I already had, with these Rag Cream Placemats With Jute Border by Timbuktu [$12.99, Set of 4], Green Hand Blown Tumblers [$3.99], and Seeded Clear Drinking Glass [from my cupboard :)] and then I splurged on this Hammered Gold Flatware Set by St. James [$59.99, Set of 24] It’s a lot to fork over all at once but when you find good flatware, you should get it because it can be used time and time again. Really beautiful flatware is a sound investment that will last a lifetime (if well cared for) and can even be handed down from generation to generation. Some of my favorite flatware I use was handed down to me from those I love the most.

IMG_9337

To give the bunny plates and table a little more hop, I placed them on these beautiful Beaded Tiffany Blue Dinner Plates by Matcreamica [$4.99 each] – which were made in Portugal, btw – and the Aqua Salad Plates With Raw Umber Edge by Galia Maioliche Miessica [$4.99 each].

IMG_9363

Then, of course, the bunny plates! Bunny Plates by Arlington [$3.99 each] an incredible deal considering I found some similar (but again NOT as cute) sold by Pottery Barn [$28.50, Set of 4] and Williams-Sanoma [$59.95, Set of 4].

GIVEAWAY ALERT: I was able to find a bunch of these so I will be giving 6 away. See details at the end of this post to be considered.

Brunch Bunny Buffet

With a big centerpiece, it makes it difficult to place food in the middle so I generally set our food out on a buffet table. Since I found SO MANY great Easter things, decorating a buffet table wasn’t a problem at all. If anything, I found too much to place on the buffet table and will need to remove a couple items for day-of, but I wanted to show you all the great pieces!

The table we will be using this year is a small glass and iron one we have placed under a beautiful antique mirror. We inherited this mirror from my husband’s mother and are so grateful to have it in our home. We think of her and miss her often. The message of Easter, however, is a comforting reminder that we will see her again.

IMG_9275 (1)IMG_9297 (2)

The first thing that I found for this look was this darling Cabbage Row [$39.99]. I absolutely love how perfectly it fits below my mother-in-law’s mirror and love how perfectly it goes with the other finds.

IMG_9301

Natural Woven Placemats, Benson Mills [$4.99 each], Embossed Aqua Tumblers [$3.99], Valencia Orange Bowls (Made In Italy), Valerie Home [$5.99 each], Jute Carrots by Gardener’s Eden [$9.99, Set of 6].

IMG_9290

How cute is this Chubby Bunny With Gold Egg by Nicole Miller Home [$12.99]?

IMG_9300In the middle of the table, I placed this beautiful Mahogany Block Tray With Pewter Handles by Design Accents [$19.99], and used some of the bunny and blue plates to pull the look together. I also love these White Ceramic Basket Bunnies [$6.99] which I, once again, placed fresh reindeer moss in, but small chocolate eggs would be really cute as well. We will be using the tray for cheeses, fruits, and spreads – really, though, a tray like this would work perfectly with whatever you choose to serve that day and can be used time and time again.

IMG_9281 (1)

IMG_9293 (1)

For different plate options, I placed this Gold and White Striped Salad Plate by Nicole Miller [$4.99] on top of these darling Cabbage Plates by BBY Bordallo [$5.99 each] along with this (it’s not chocolate!) Foiled Chick by NBC Trading [$7.99, Set Of 4]. I really just love how realistic that foiled chick looks! If you can’t find these, try actual foil wrapped chocolates to your look. That way, you can eat them too.

IMG_9292 (2)

Then, once again, I used these colorful hand blown glass vases and St. James flatware. Love love love how it all turned out and hope you do too. I would also love love love to see your Easter table settings (and otherwise) so please be sure to tag #maxxaddict.

Remember, though, that whatever you are able to create and afford this season is not actually about the bunnies but about The Lamb. I wish you all a Happy Easter filled with so much hope, color, friends, family, chocolate, and MaxxAddict-inspired decor!
